Fogg Dam (shown in header photo)
(view photos in right side column)

Recent visits to Fogg Dam rewarded with magnificent displays of Lotus flowers which were prolific at this time of year, the wet season.

Known as 'Jesus Bird' because of it's appearance to sometimes walk on water, the Jacana is dwarfed by the sheer size of the Lotus pads.

This little crocodile scurried off the dam wall road back into the water as I approached. It was only slightly larger than the goanna I saw in the area last year.

With so much water around there weren't many birds to be seen - all dispersed, but I did see these Whistling ducks and Burdekin (Rajah) ducks and they were much closer and more approachable than in past visits. The beautiful Pygmy geese (ducks) that were plentiful back in November were now all gone in February.
